Club Rules

Picture
Rule 1. There are no rules

However we do have a couple of guidelines.
  1. Meet on time.
  2. Bring some money for a beer - rehydration is very important after strenuous exercise :-)

What to expect

We are not affiliated to a national club; we're just a group of chaps who like to cycle for pleasure and to work up a thirst. We cycle at a fairly slow pace and stop to admire the view and wait for the slowest members of the group. The bikes we ride aren't cutting-edge carbon fibre frame efforts, they're mountain bikes or winter trainers.

We do like the challenge of hills so you can expect a couple of climbs on each ride. We cycle on the road so unless you're very fit, ditch the knobblys and swap them in for a set of slicks.

The only thing we ask is that you don't wear a dark coloured top. We're all car drivers as well as cyclists and know the importance of being seen. Better to avoid an accident than rely on a helmet to minimise injury. Having said that we whole-heartedly recommend that you wear a helmet because we know accidents do happen and we've seen first hand that helmets help prevent injury.

We don't provide any form of insurance; it's up to the individual to decide whether they want to be covered. If you do then the CTC offer a good policy if you take out membership with them.
